From Caracas to New York City: The Story Behind Terrart NYC
Terrart NYC began in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1984 as a family passion for creating miniature gardens inside glass. More than 40 years later, siblings Charly and Yuvey Uzcategui continue that legacy in Brooklyn through terrariums, moss art, workshops, and botanical experiences.
Our family's relationship with terrariums began in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1984. What started as a passion for miniature gardens became knowledge passed from one generation to the next.
Growing up, my sister Yuvey Uzcategui and I were surrounded by plants, natural materials, and the techniques our parents developed while working with miniature ecosystems. Those experiences became the foundation of Terrart NYC.

Two Backgrounds, One Family Business
Our professional backgrounds brought complementary skills to the company.
I, Charly Uzcategui, studied Engineering with a specialization in Geosciences, developing knowledge of rocks, soils, and natural processes. My sister, Yuvey Uzcategui, studied Business Administration, bringing expertise in operations, organization, and growth.
Together, our family knowledge and professional experience shaped Terrart NYC.

Bringing Our Tradition to New York City
After moving to New York, we reimagined the terrarium tradition we grew up with for urban living.
In 2019, Terrart NYC was founded in Brooklyn to bring nature closer to people in apartments, offices, and other city spaces. Our self-sustaining terrariums combine tropical plants, moss, rocks, soil, and natural materials to create miniature ecosystems.
More Than 40 Years of Knowledge
Today, Terrart NYC offers self-sustaining ecosystems, preserved moss walls, DIY kits, corporate workshops, virtual experiences, and botanical design.
