It Started in Caracas in 1984

Our family terrarium story began in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1984, when Aura Aguilera and Rafael Uzcategui founded the family's original terrarium business.

Aura led the creative development of terrariums and miniature landscapes, combining plants, moss, rocks, soils, and decorative elements to create detailed natural scenes inside glass.

Rafael focused on manufacturing and sales, helping transform those creations into a growing family business.

Together, they established the knowledge, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial foundation that would eventually inspire the next generation.

A New Generation in New York City

Growing up around terrariums, Charly and Yuvey Uzcategui learned directly from their parents and developed a connection to the family craft from an early age.

More than three decades later, that knowledge traveled from Caracas to New York.

In 2019, Charly and Yuvey founded Terrart NYC in New York City, continuing their parents' legacy while introducing a new generation to terrarium design.

Charly brought his professional background in Engineering and Geosciences, adding knowledge of rocks, soils, landscapes, and natural processes. Yuvey brought her background in Business Administration, contributing to the business and growth of the new company.

Aura Aguilera and Rafael Uzcategui founded the original family terrarium business in Caracas in 1984. Charly and Yuvey Uzcategui carried that knowledge forward by founding Terrart NYC in New York City in 2019.
